Disc Golf Tournament - Ledgestone Insurance Open

The 2021 Ledgestone Insurance Open will tee off Thursday, August 5th, in Central Illinois.  There will be 2,000 players coming in to play 14 courses throughout the region.  Morton is the hub with 4 courses and several events happening at the Park In by Radisson. Libby's Pumpkin Recipe Challenge

Does your recipe have what it takes to win this year’s LIBBY’S® Pumpkin Recipe Challenge? Don’t miss this opportunity for your recipe to be crowned as this year’s best!

This year’s competition features three categories: Junior (ages 10 to 17), Adult Sweet, and Adult Savory. Only one entry per person!

*** If interested, contestants may also opt to enter their recipe into the "Libby's Bake Better, Do Better" challenge. To be considered for this challenge, contestants are encouraged to use sustainable/organic and locally grown ingredients. The winner will be chosen based on taste of recipe and amount of sustainable and local ingredients. Opting in to the additional challenge requires a list of how your ingredients are sustainable/where they were locally grown. 

1st Place in the Adult and Junior categories will receive $100 in Chamber Checks and 2nd Places will receive $35 in Chamber Checks! Winners of the Junior and Adult categories will compete for the $150 Overall Grand Prize. All entrants will receive a participation ribbon and Pumpkin Bucks to be used at the food venues on Festival grounds. The first 25 contestants to register will receive a Libby's Goodie Bag. 

Winners will be announced at 6:30 pm on August 7th. 

On Sunday, September 12, from 5-7 pm, Eli's Coffee Shop will host a meet and greet with the Grand Prize winner and Category winners with a limited number of samples of the recipes to be shared with those that attend. A People's Choice award will be announced Wednesday, September 15 at 6:25 pm on the Gold's Entertainment Stage on Festival grounds. 

Contestants should drop off their recipes at Potter's Alley between 3:30 and 4 pm on August 7th. Please enter through the front door off of David Street. Contestants should email a digital copy of their recipe to by August 6th. Bake Better, Do Better Challenge recipes should also include their sustainable/locally grown ingredients.

Chili Cook Off

Join us for an evening of fun during the Chili Cook Off at Potter's Alley! Along with great chili, there will be a band as well as other tailgate activities! 

  • Please register online using this forum. 
  • Registration is $20. 
  • Chili will be judged based on categories. 
    • Best Name based on Festival Theme (Pumpkins, Tailgates, and Traditions)
    • Overall Best (1st & 2nd Place) 
    • People's Choice (Best Name & Best Chili)
  • Registration is limited to 25 contestants. 
    • Will waitlist to potentially add more contestants. 
  • Contestants must arrive at 3:30 p.m.
  • Chili should be brought in a 5 quart crockpot or larger.
  • Each contestant will receive a coupon for a festival-themed shirt.

Meet & Greet with Sen. Darren Bailey

The Tazewell County Republicans are hosting a Meet & Greet with Illinois gubernatorial candidate Sen. Darren Bailey (R-55) on Saturday, August 21st, 2021, at the Tremont Community Center from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Midwest Food Bank Taste & Tour

Taste and Tour is a family friendly event to benefit Midwest Food Bank.  The event will be an interactive drive through experience through Midwest Food Bank warehouse in Morton to inform and inspire all ages about our Mission with a meal box to-go at the end of the tour.

Each individual or family selects a 30-minute time slot between 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM to visit the Midwest Food Bank in Morton.  At that time ticket holders will enjoy an interactive drive through experience showcasing the Midwest Food Bank Mission and pick up their meal box to go.  The food is provided by the talented local caterer, Renee Endress - Grace Catering Company.  Enjoy your meal at home or take it to a local park.  Invite your family and friends to join in on the fun!

Window Decorating Contest

Morton classrooms of little artists (grades 2nd - 6th) are welcomed to create an art piece to decorate the windows of the Morton Chamber of Commerce to the 55th Morton Pumpkin Festival theme: Pumpkins, Tailgates, and Traditions. Each registered class will receive a sheet of 25 x 30in paper they will be asked to decorate and submit by September 7.

Sheets of paper will be available for pick up the week of August 23, teachers will receive an email when paper is ready for pick up. You will also be given a sticker that you will write your name, grade, and school that will be placed on the front of your art piece as well.

Pictures can be in any orientation. We will be posting these in the windows of the Chamber office for those visiting the Pumpkin Store to enjoy.

 Voting for a People’s Choice Award will take place beginning September 7 with money raised going back to your schools’ PTOs. Judges will also look at the images and award a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner.

Tazewell Co. Republican Women Organizational Meeting

I have scheduled the first meeting which will be an organizational meeting for the relaunch of the Tazewell County Republican Women Organization.  The scope of this organization is to provide Tazewell County Republican Women with a place to network, gain education and groom potential candidates for public office or to just work to make a difference in our community.  Linda Hernandez, who is a member of the Peoria Co. Republican Women and who is also the Membership Chair of the Illinois Federation of Republican Women will be on hand to help us get started on the right foot!

Fourth Fridays

Redistricting Hearings

The House and Senate Redistricting committees have scheduled 7 public hearings between Thursday and Sunday on an amended map. 

A couple of the meetings will have an in-person component:

  • Thursday at 1pm at the Bilandic Building in Chicago
  • Friday at 10:00am at IBEW Local 309 in Collinsville (House only)
  • Friday at noon in the Will County Board Room in Joliet (Senate only)
  • Saturday at 10:00am the Peoria Riverfront Museum
  • Saturday at 3pm at the SIU Student Center in Carbondale (Senate only)
  • Sunday at 10am at the Phillips Park Visitors Center in Aurora (House only)
